We’re pleased to reveal more about The Teal of Tunbridge Wells competition

Part of our mission is to find refreshing new ways of working together to create beautiful Interiors, bringing the Interior Design community together and raising the profile of all the interiors businesses in the Tunbridge Wells area.

We have been working together with our interior design and colour experts to create a selection of design schemes including three specially chosen teal colours. The design schemes displayed, showcase the spirit of The Colour House as a Design Hub for Tunbridge Wells and beyond, featuring products from our in-house brands, designers and craftsmen.

These 3 contemporary colour schemes are curated by the 3 members of our exclusive design hub collaborative. Let’s take a look at the schemes in more detail:

The Teal of Tunbridge Wells by Nicky Percival- Design Scheme 1:

Nicky’s design philosophy is to draw out the personality and vision of her clients in an open and articulate way, creating living spaces entirely attuned to them and their properties, be they period or modern.

After gaining a BA Hons in Interior Design from Kingston, Nicky started her career in theatre, film and television design, before working with leading architect-led, interiors companies including Roundhouse Design. This shaped her architectural approach to design conceiving every aspect of the space and how it is to be used.

Nicky’s design inspiration is that she looks at a project from all perspectives before creating a design that engages physically and emotionally. It is important to create a place that enhances life and enables people to thrive.
Her style is eclectic, using colour and texture in a layered comfortable way. Always keen to use art and a mix of styles and periods of furniture, she encourages her clients to be honest with materials, brave with their choices and have lots of fun.

The Teal of Tunbridge Wells by Anna Hayman – Design Scheme 2:

Anna’s designs are dark and dramatic trend-aware prints, specialising in velvets, wallpapers, lampshades and cushions. The varied luxurious and detailed designs, created in house by Anna using Lino print and ink paiting techniques, have become recognisable across the interiors community as the maximalist era progresses. A mix of traditional botanical themes, Art Deco and animal print inspired pattern, Anna brings hedonistic and decadent lean to fabric design.

Anna’s design inspiration for this design plan was based around the idea of a commercial bar space in Istanbul. Somewhere to relax, unwind and get in the party mood after exploring the colourful city. Anna paired the teal with pops of coral and cool metallic tones, as well as ivory and black to offer contrast. Low level seating, mood lighting and fur textures set the scene for a good time in this immersive tone.

The Teal of Tunbridge Wells by Rebecca Randall – Design Scheme 3

Rebecca’s passion for colour and love of great design lead to a design partnership working on architectural and interior design projects over the last 25 years. She went on to study Interior Decoration at Chelsea College of Arts and more recently have trained with colour consultant Karen Haller one of the UK’s leading experts on colour and Applied Colour Psychology, and has recently become a member of The Colour Group (GB).

Learning about colour and how it can be used to enhance our lives and improve business performance has been truly inspiring. Rebecca loves working with colour and helping individuals and businesses to discover their true colours.

Rebecca’s inspiration was a morning room at Mabledon Park creating a bright and vibrant space for a south facing room with glorious views over the valley and beyond which is an AONB. The yellow brings an uplifting feeling to the scheme and provides a stand-out accent colour. This scheme would appeal to an autumn colour personality as teal is the central colour in this autumn palette. The other boards represent an adjoining sitting room designed for evening relaxing.
